Helping Unique Children Reach Every Success & Talent

Walk through the doors of Hucrest Elementary and you can sense the knowledge within. Wander the halls and you see evidence of a strong educational program. Students' work fills the hallways as the buzz of learning radiates from the classrooms and our library. Two computer labs are constantly humming with students eager to learn. Parent volunteers come work for an average of 750 hours per month and our children carry with them an understanding that their education is important. Their future starts today. Every day is filled with promise, as each child walks through the doors of Hucrest Elementary.

Hucrest School is a K-5 school located in Roseburg, Oregon. Approximately 130 miles north of the California/Oregon border, Roseburg is centered between the Cascade mountains to the east and the Coast range to the west. Drive an hour and a half in either direction so you can relax at the beach or ski in the mountains. Or just stay at home to enjoy the natural beauty of the North and South Umpqua Rivers, known for great fly fishing and spectacular class 1 - 3 rapids. Whatever your interests are you will find them in abundance within the pristine beauty of the Umpqua Basin.

Precious

The unofficial school mascot of Hucrest Hawks

Precious starts her day by always being the first one at school! She checks the grounds and then begins to wander inside the building to welcome the adults as they arrive for work. After welcoming the children briefly, she'll either take her post in the office or if it's a warm day, then she'll stroll through the gardens.

She has a master degree in human therapy which entitles her to do pretty much anything she wants to do! However, Precious has let it be known that she prefers not to be picked up or hugged too tightly! But we are allowed to pet her as much as we want or can physically manage.

Because she is a part of the Hucrest community, she has the highest of standards. Precious never makes a nuisance of herself, has exceptional hygiene, and strives to bring a smile to hundreds of faces everyday!

She has been featured in the local newspaper, The News-Review (click here for article)
