Extracurricular Activities and Student Achievement Everyone Gains

SafeSchools Training for Parents

Roseburg Public Schools takes the safety of our students very seriously.  Oregon House Bill 2062 requires school districts to train all staff members how to recognize and prevent staff-to-student sexual misconduct.  In compliance with the law, we are also making similar online training available to parents.

If you are interested in viewing the 15-minute video, there are two ways to log in:

  • Go to the SafeSchools homepage, parent.or.safeschools.com, click “Register” (To the right of the “Sign In” button).
  • On the next screen you will be prompted to enter the registration key 17665763
  • Next you will be prompted to enter some basic information, including a username of your choice, which you will use to login to the system before moving forward.

Or Use the “quick link” registration URL: parent.or.safeschools.com/register/17665763

  • Enter the address above into your internet browser, and you will be taken to the registration page.
  • Enter your basic information, including a username.
  • To begin a course, click on the blue title link and follow the prompts.
  • To earn a certificate of completion, you must complete all sections of a course and pass the quiz.

Your participation will help to make your child’s school district a safer place to work and learn!

If you have any questions, please call the Human Resources Department at (541) 440-8263.

Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act and Roseburg School District:

This fall there will be some changes to the School meal requirements that are being mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture. The law will require more whole grains, more and different types of fruits and vegetables and foods with lower sodium. You may have heard about these changes on the news. Here at Roseburg school district, we began making similar changes to our menus a few years ago. Many of our menu items are now made with healthier ingredients such as whole grains, we have been modifying recipes to include less sodium and saturated fat, we have switched to only 1% or non-fat milk, our snacks and beverages meet nutrition guidelines established for lower sugar, fat and sodium, and our menus include more fruits and vegetables. We will be educating your child about the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle and using the USDA ChooseMyPlate as a symbol of how to build healthier meals. We have always encouraged students to try fruits and vegetables, but students will now be required to take at least ½ cup of fruits and vegetables every day as a part of the new regulations. We encourage you to speak with your child about these requirements and encourage them to consume these foods as well. It’s not good nutrition if it’s not consumed!

For more information please call your Nutrition Services Director @ 541-440-4023.

Surplus for Sale

Save your budget while helping your school. Roseburg Public Schools is proud to announce our participation, along with hundreds of other public organizations, in Public Surplus, a public online auction site.  This auction website allows us a free portal for disposal of our obsolete, worn or unused tools and equipment to you, our patrons.  Everyone is welcome to register and become a bidder.  Full instructions on how to register, search, receive notifications, and to bid, are available on the website at www.publicsurplus.com

Once your purchase is complete and you have picked up your items, they are yours to use as you like.  Use your imagination, use them in your home, your shop, give them as gifts, give them a little elbow grease and get creative.  Many times our discards find new life in another way.

Parent/Guardian-we believe that being hungry negatively impacts student's health and academic
performance. With the new Oregon HB3454, we as a District and Nutrition Service Department, are not
allowed to refuse a meal to a student if they request one, unless we have your permission to withhold
that meal. If the student does request a meal, you as a parent/guardian are responsible for paying for
that meal.
By signing this document, you are directing district staff to withhold meals from your student.

Roseburg Public School Surplus Aution. Funds collected through the sale of surplus items stream back into the general fund, and serviceable items are put to use rather than ending life at the landfill.  Also, families on tight budgets may find needed items on our auctions or those of other Oregon agencies to save a few bucks this time of year.  You can click on the following web address

www.publicsurplus.com. Registration is very simple.  On the website prospective bidders will be able to search our offerings by selecting Oregon and Roseburg Public Schools from the list of agencies in the drop-down boxes at the right of the home page window.

Attendance is an important part of a child's education. With the help of volunteers, Jo Lane checks the attendance of every student daily.  if your child has an early morning appointment they will need a note or have a parent sign them in, for it to be excused. If your child is absent please call the office and report the absence daily.  If you need homework you may call the counseling center before 9:30 on the second day of absence to request the work at 541-440-4108.

https://district.ode.state.or.us/apps/frlapp/default.aspx

The security message pops up but it is ok to allow this on your computer.  It is a state web page. When they get to the part where they pick the school district name it is under "douglas county sd4" on the drop down menu. Please call Kris Parker at food service if you have any questions.

At the beginning of the year we have lots of applications coming in but we will still handle any parent needing same day attention if you send them to us at the District Office.
