Grade Level: 11

Length of Course: Year

Pre-requisite: Application Approval

Required Credit: 1

Course Overview: U.S. History is a class that utilizes a thematic approach to the study of history of the United States, predominantly in the 20th Century, emphasizing key themes and their accompanying ideas and concepts. The students will be exposed to the social and cultural history as well as those events relating to domestic politics and foreign affairs. The Step-up class distinguishes itself as different from the standard U.S. History class not by teaching a different curriculum, but by formulating alternative projects and assessments. Projects and assessments are created in an attempt to appeal to students who have not been finding success in the regular standard classes.
