Grade Level: 10

Length of Course: Year

Pre-requisite: Application Approval

Required Credit: 1

Course Overview: Step-up World History focuses on major years and events that shaped the modern world from the late eighteenth century to the present. Students will develop an understanding of current world issues and events related to their historical, geographic, political, economic, and cultural contexts. Students will consider multiple accounts of events in order to understand international relations and developments from a variety of perspectives. The Step-up class distinguishes itself as different from the standard World History class not by teaching a different curriculum but by formulating alternative projects and assessments. Projects and assessments are created in an attempt to appeal to students who have not been finding success in the regular standard classes.
