Length of Course: Full Year

Pre-requisite: Instructor Approval.

Credit: 1 Elective Credit.

Course Overview: Language 2 was developed to meet the needs of all delayed readers and writers, English Language Learners, students with language based
learning disabilities and students who have no developed literacy skills despite participation in literacy instruction. Language! explicitly teaches all basic language skills for building literacy and is designed to be cumulative, systematic, and explicit in its instructional method. Students will have a personal binder containing writing samples with scoring rubric based on the six traits of effective writing (writing portfolio), reading comprehension (daily entry diary and related questions to identify confusion), fluency probes (data collection), and personal notes for reference.
