Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework to help with positive behavior at school for students. The PBIS framework has a number of defining characteristics. First and foremost, student outcomes serve as the basis for practice selection, data collection, and intervention evaluations.
Beginning in the 2015-16 school year our PBIS program will be called "STAR PRIDE." STAR PRIDE will has four "pillars" or behavioral expectations that all students will learn and promote.
BE RESPECTFUL - BE RESPONSIBLE - BE SAFE - BE CARING
Our students know that being safe, respectful, responsible and caring is their job to help them be the most successful students. You can help support that by talking to your child about what each of those mean and what those behaviors look like.
Here at Sunnyslope we are using "Star Bucks" to reinforce positive behavior. Each week those “Star Bucks ” go into a drawing for prizes. We have Super Stars of the Month (Student of the Month. These students are caring self managers that work hard in class and model the character traits that we focus on each month. See below. We also have attendance incentives for students that have perfect attendance (that includes no tardies and no absences) each month. Every month we hold a Star Pride Assembly to recognize the efforts of our students and staff.
