Elementary Music Staff

The staff consists of 7 energetic, committed teachers which have developed ROADMAPS. Staff members are highly qualified and most hold a masters degree. Three have specialized Orff Certificates and one holds a level one Kodaly Certificate.

The elementary music specialists meet monthly to organize events and share curricular ideas. Some have additional responsibilities in the areas of choir and reading. Due to the reduction in staff, most school share music specialists.

All elementary students receive classroom music twice weekly for 30 minutes per session. The exception being Kindergarten which meets one time a week for 20 minutes.

In addition to teaching, the music staff professionally supports the following groups:

School Committees: Positive Behavior Support (PBS), assemblies, Site Council, scheduling, safety, technology, talent shows, and district music committee.

Community Organizations: Umpqua Symphony Association Board, Umpqua Valley Arts Association, Music Educator's National Conference, Oregon Music Teacher's Association, Roseburg Community Concert Association, and Umpqua Actor Community Theatre (UACT).

Church Music Groups: choirs, worship bands, and handbell ensembles

Performance Groups: Umpqua Chamber Orchestra, Roseburg Concert Chorale, Vintage Singers, UACT musical productions, UCC Musical Theater, German Band, Big Horn Jazz Band, Roseburg Chamber Brass, Umpqua Singers.
