Teaching and Learning Department

What We Do

Welcome to the Teaching and Learning Home Page!

Across the district, we are continuing work to improve student learning in all content areas as well as in social emotional skill development.  Professional development is conducted through Professional Learning Communities.  As a district we believe in asking and answering the four critical questions of learning* for ALL…students, teachers and administrators.

Professional Learning Communities

1. What is it that we expect students to learn?

*Common Core State Standards
*Social Emotional Skills

2. How will we know when they have learned it?

*Differentiated Instruction
*Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtI)

3. How will we respond when they don’t learn?

*Smarter Balanced Assessments
*iReady Diagnostic and Standards Mastery

4. How will we respond when they already know it?

*Differentiated Instruction

*How do we expect students to be instructed?

*Using Adopted Core Curricula

*Using Best Practices instructional techniques

that are high cognitive, rigorous, and engaging.

The links from this home page provide a wide variety of resources, materials and information to help teachers answer the four critical questions and support for instructional strategies and practices.

We are excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to serving staff and students in the Roseburg Public School system!
