READY! for Kindergarten
The Roseburg School District is offering READY! for Kindergarten classes for parents of children ages 4 or 5 who will be entering kindergarten in September of 2013. This program shares information about the lively early-learning years before a child enters school, which lay the foundation for all future learning.
Classes are free to families whose children will attend one of Roseburg Public School’s Title I funded schools. Classes will be taught by the kindergarten teachers and school staff. Free child care is provided.
The classes will be held on March 12, April 9 and May 14 from 6 – 7:30 PM. Each class has a focus – Print and Literacy, Numbers and Logic and Positive Relationships. The classes will be held at Eastwood, Fullerton IV, Fir Grove, Green, Rose, Sunnyslope and Winchester Elementary Schools.

READY! teaches parents how to “Play with a Purpose” which builds strong minds and relationships. Parents learn activities and receive free materials to make learning at home fun and effective, so each child will enter kindergarten ready! Please plan on attending if your child will be entering kindergarten this fall.

Inter-District Agreement Forms for Non-Resident Student Transfer Requests
Families wishing their child to attend a school outside the Roseburg Public Schools attendance boundaries are required to complete a Resident District Transfer Request. As per school board Policy JECB: Request for Transfer of Resident Students and Admission of Non-resident Students, the admission of non-resident students shall be for a period not to exceed the remaining academic year or the upcoming academic year. The admission must be renewed annually through an application by the non-resident student's parent or guardian.

Four Year Olds Wanted!
If your child has turned 4 by September 1st of this year, he/she may qualify to enroll in a free Roseburg School District program funded through Title I. The focus in on school readiness in preparation for kindergarten next fall. The program in four days a week. To qualify, you must live in the Roseburg School district and in the attendance area of Eastwood, Fullerton, Fir Grove, Green, Rose, Sunnyslope or Winchester. At this time there is a waiting list, however please call if you are interested and would like to be placed on the waiting list.

When weather conditions cause reason to suspect that highway travel may be unsafe, or inclement weather conditions exist, the School District will make one of the following determinations
- Conduct a regular school day with bus pick-ups at normal times
- Two-hour delay of school day with bus pick-ups running two hours late
- Cancel school
Various news media will be contacted with this decision. Patrons are asked to check the FlashAlert.Net website or tune in to your local television or radio station for school start delay or closure information.
Student Accident Insurance
In accordance with Board Policy JHA, insurance coverage (either private or school) is mandatory for those students engaged in athletics. The cost of school insurance is the responsibility of the family. Click here to enroll in Student Insurance.
EdLine
Roseburg High School, Fremont Middle School, and Joseph Lane Middle School have joined thousands of other schools across the country using Edline, an internet service focusing on enabling parent communication. Teachers have been trained on how to upload their grade reports to Edline so that parents with internet access can access student grades plus many other features that will improve communication between students, parents, and teachers. Parents will receive information and an access code in the mail so they can access student information on the internet. A link to Edline can be found on each of the secondary school websites or under the Parents menu above.
PASS - Grades and Attendance
Schoolmaster’s Parental Access Support System (PASS) gives parents Web access to their students grades and attendance records. You'll find PASS under the Parents menu above or look for a link on the schools website called PASS, Parent Access or Grades and Attendance.
Diploma and Alternative Certificate Options
The Oregon Administrative Rules provide that school districts shall award a diploma to students upon fulfillment of all state and local district credit competency, and attendance requirements. The standards also allow the granting of an alternative document identifying acquired minimum competencies to students having met some, but not all graduation requirements. All members of a graduation class, whether they receive a standard diploma or an alternative document, are allowed to participate in commencement exercises and receive the appropriate document in that ceremony. Roseburg Public School District awards the following diplomas and alternative certificates:

Right to Request Information
All parents have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of their child's teacher. If you would like to access this information, please contact the school's office and you will be provided with documentation describing the type of teaching license the teacher holds.
