Computer Technology

Through fundraising, donations and grants Hucrest is as close to the cutting edge as an elementary school can be. Each classroom has a pod of three computers and a printer.

We currently have a 30 station e-Mac computer lab with video projection system, an instructional lab using 30 i-Mac/Power McIntosh computers, and a portable projection system.

Students typically use the Mac equipment for:

* Accelerated Reader and the PLATO math program;

* research and presentations (Grade 4 and 5 in particular).

Music

Music is provided for all students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Students receive instruction in singing, notation, ear training, rhythm, keyboard, and various classroom instruments.

No choir or band is currently offered. Students may join the Umpqua Youth Beginning Choir for ages 6-8, or Umpqua Youth Advanced Choir for those aged 9 or older.

Contact Umpqua Valley Arts Center at 672-2532.
