Project "Be There"

Dear Sunnyslope Community,

We want 100% of our students to grow, learn and to be successful. A key factor in their success is regular attendance. Project “Be There” is our campaign to help improve attendance and to reduce chronic absenteeism. Key components of an effective program can be found at: . We understand that if students are ill they need to stay home to get well. At times though some students miss school for appointments, vacations or maybe just because they are tired. We are hoping that parent can arrange appointments after school, go on vacation on non-school days and/or get kids plenty of rest so they can't say they are too tired.

Each day one student name will be chosen at random to be the student of day and given fabulous accolades and prizes. Students must be present to win.

We also have a classroom Mr. Potato Head contest. Each day a class has 100% attendance they recieve a piece for their Super Hero Mtr. Potato Head. When one is fully built the whole class recieves a reward.

Our goal is to have 100% of our students attend 95% or more days. So as a rule if students miss (5) days or less we can reach the goal so we would like all to "Strive for Five" or less.
