Meet February's Exceptional Student Award winners

Congratulations to Annalleeze Gutierrez, a fifth-grader at Hucrest Elementary School; Akira Glover, a sixth-grader at Fremont Middle School; Electro Veloria, a 10th-grader at Roseburg High School; and Abigail Hinerman, a senior at RHS. These students were recognized with Exceptional Student Awards at our February School Board meeting.
Each month, students are chosen by their schools to be honored at our School Board meetings. Students may be recognized for a variety of achievements and successes such as academics, community-mindedness, character, positive influence, and extracurriculars.
Here’s what their schools had to say:
Annalleeze is a fifth-grade student at Hucrest Elementary School who consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and positive attitude. She takes pride in her learning, puts forth her best effort on every assignment, and never gives up when faced with challenges. Annalleeze leads by example through her kindness, responsibility, and respect for others, making her a fantastic role model for her peers. Her dedication and character make her a valued member of the classroom community. She embodies all the things that make her a HAWK!
Akira is a shining example of kindness, leadership, and thoughtfulness, and her positive impact is felt across the school community. In Advisory, Akira consistently goes out of her way to make others feel valued and included. From bringing birthday cookies for classmates to helping create the “100 Acts of Kindness” project, she actively looks for ways to lift others up and celebrate the good happening around her. Akira truly exemplifies Fremont’s 6th-Grade Big 5 Rules for Success. She is a positive presence, a natural role model, and a student who makes those around her better simply by being herself. Fremont is grateful for the kindness, leadership, and heart Akira brings to the school each day.
Electro embodies the very best qualities of a high-quality student. He is a consistently positive, kind, and diligent presence in the classroom, completing all work with the highest quality and a true focus on understanding. His problem-solving and critical-thinking skills are exceptional, matched by his compassion and respect for others. Electro goes above and beyond to spread kindness, including weekly PRIDE Shout-Outs to peers. He is polite, helpful, and a joyful collaborator with a great sense of humor. From physics to performing arts, his growth has been inspiring. Electro is truly deserving of Student of the Month.
Abby is a student who truly makes everyone around her better. She is honest with herself about her strengths and areas for growth, and that self-awareness fuels her success. Kind, warm, and endlessly encouraging, Abby cheers on her classmates and brings joy into every room with her bubbly personality and positive attitude. She is driven and resilient, pursuing her goal of working in the medical field with determination and grit. A hardworking and attentive student, especially in math, Abby asks thoughtful questions and never gives up. Her sincerity, respect, and dedication have been a privilege to witness.
