Meet our May 20 Exceptional Student Award winners

Congratulations to Alani Lopez, fifth-grade student at Fullerton IV Elementary; Hannah Dickson, sixth-grader at Fremont Middle School; Aspen Noel Richards, sixth-grader at Jo Lane Middle School; Linken Adams, ninth-grade student at Roseburg High School; and Audrey Arnold, 10th-grader at RHS. These students were recognized with Exceptional Student Awards at our May 20 School Board meeting.
Each month, students are chosen by their schools to be honored at our School Board meetings. Students may be recognized for a variety of achievements and successes such as academics, community-mindedness, character, positive influence, and extracurriculars.
Here’s what their schools had to say:
Alani consistently demonstrates kindness, determination, and an outstanding work ethic in everything she does. She approaches challenges with a positive attitude, gives her best effort, and never gives up when learning becomes difficult. Beyond her academic effort, Alani is known for treating others with respect, making classmates feel included, and always being willing to help others. Staff describe her as a caring, dependable student whose smile and positive energy brighten the classroom each day. Alani represents the very best of Fullerton IV, and the school is incredibly proud of her accomplishments.
Hannah is the kind of student who quietly makes Fremont a better place every single day. Hannah consistently demonstrates kindness, hard work, and a positive attitude in everything she does. Teachers describe her as conscientious, dedicated, and always wearing a smile. She works hard academically, stays engaged in class, and brings a calm, positive energy to those around her. What truly makes Hannah stand out is the way she supports others. Whether helping a classmate having a difficult day, offering assistance to a teacher, or simply being a friendly and encouraging presence, Hannah leads through kindness and character.
Aspen is a dedicated student who consistently stays on task. She helps others and gets along well with her peers. Thoughtful and caring, she often supports those who need it most. She is attentive, polite, and courteous, and consistently demonstrates kindness and helpfulness. She is considerate of her peers, studious, and actively participates in class. She truly exemplifies what it means to be an ideal student. Though she may be quiet, she leads by example and shines brightly.
Linken is a dedicated, conscientious, and good-humored student who consistently demonstrates outstanding character and leadership. He approaches each day with positivity, energy, and a genuine desire to improve, always putting great care and focus into his studies. Linken truly embodies RHS PRIDE through his positivity, respect, involvement, determination, and encouragement toward others. In Wellness and throughout the school day, he brings an uplifting attitude that makes everyone around him better. Linken is kind, hardworking, and supportive of his peers, and he consistently creates a positive environment in every class he is part of. He is truly a phenomenal young man and an outstanding representative of Roseburg High School.
Audrey is an exceptionally motivated, hardworking, and determined student who consistently demonstrates excellence in and out of the classroom. In chemistry class, she always completes her work thoroughly and approaches group work and labs with a positive, respectful attitude. Audrey works well with others, encourages her peers, and is always open to feedback as she strives to improve. She is a 4.0 student who is heavily involved on campus and serves as the Young Life representative at Inter-Club Council meetings. Audrey is organized, detail-oriented, and perseveres through adversity with strength, maturity, and grace.
