Congratulations to Tamie Averett, librarian at Eastwood Elementary School, and Jann Boyter, second-grade teacher, also at Eastwood Elementary School. These employees were presented with Crystal Apple Awards at the January 8 School Board meeting.
Here's what their school leaders had to say:
Tamie is an indispensable part of the school community and plays a vital role in the daily operations at Eastwood. She is far more than just a “librarian.” Tamie has created such a welcoming place in the library where students feel like they belong. Her positivity, work ethic, and dedication shine through in everything she does. Her efforts and dedication are evident every day as she works to make sure students and teachers receive what they need, when they need it. Tamie has a student-first approach. She is always ready to help, whether it’s troubleshooting tech issues with Chromebooks, setting ambitious fundraising goals through the Eastwood Book Fair, or volunteering for student activities. Tamie’s diligence and joyful nature are nothing short of inspiring.
For 20 years, Jann has been a positive force in shaping the lives of Eastwood students. Her exceptional knowledge of the school, students, and content is matched only by her dedication. If you visit Eastwood after school, on weekends, or even on holidays, you are likely to see Jann’s car in the parking lot. Her commitment to her profession and students is unwavering. Jann takes immense pride in fostering the growth of every student in her classroom, focusing not only on academic achievement but also on developing social and emotional skills. She is dedicated to nurturing the whole child. Eastwood means a lot to the whole Boyter family. Both of her sons attended Eastwood, where they completed their Eagle Scout projects with support from community members. Hayden designed and installed the Bunny Hop Trail Footbridge while Curtis built the original garden boxes and fencing. Jann and her family’s enduring impact on Eastwood will be treasured for years to come.
