Wellness Committee Overview

The mission of the Wellness Committee is to support and strengthen the district’s Wellness Policy by providing input, engagement, and collaboration. The committee will assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review and update of the local wellness policy.

Committee Membership
The Wellness Committee membership will include, to the extent possible, but not be limited to:

  • Parents

  • Students

  • School Nutrition Program

  • Physical education and/or health education teachers

  • School health professionals

  • Mental health and social services staff

  • Healthcare professionals and other health-related professionals

  • School administrators

  • School board members

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) education coordinators

  • Community members

  • Community/Business organizations

Discussion Topics
Committee discussions may include:

  • Reviewing how new federal and state guidance impacts the wellness policy.

  • Preparing the Triennial Progress Assessment.

  • Examining Triennial Progress Assessment results.

  • Evaluating how wellness goals are being met and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Identifying community partners that can enrich employee and student wellness programs.

  • Recommending wellness activities that can be integrated throughout the school environment, beyond the cafeteria.

Meetings
The committee will meet four times per school year. All meetings will be held at the Roseburg School District office.
