Staff honored with January Crystal Apple awards

Congratulations to Josiah Buster, Language Arts Teacher at Roseburg High School, Jesse Haggans, Campus Monitor, also at RHS. These employees were presented with Crystal Apple Awards at the January 14 School Board meeting.
Here’s what their leaders had to say:
Josiah is exactly the kind of educator Roseburg High School is fortunate to have. He brings passion to his content, genuine care for his students, and a deep commitment to the school community, not only during the school day, but also through his involvement in after-school sports and activities. Stepping into Josiah’s classroom, it becomes clear within minutes that he is the real deal. His space is intentionally designed to reflect the themes of his current lessons, and his instruction is creative, engaging, and purposeful. He has a remarkable ability to draw in students who may not initially arrive excited about English, and by the time they leave, there’s a strong likelihood they are. Josiah is a phenomenal teacher whose dedication, heart, and lasting impact on students make him truly deserving of the Crystal Apple Award.
Jesse is a true light in the Roseburg High School community. He brings joy and positivity to campus every single day. He greets everyone with a warm smile and a genuine welcome, treating students, staff, and visitors with respect and compassion. When asked how he’s doing, his response is always the same: “blessed.” And that mindset shows in everything he does. Jesse has a passion for brightening the day of every person he encounters and has built strong, meaningful relationships with RHS students, who truly love seeing him each day. His connection and positive spirit have even led to him being invited to sing the National Anthem at many athletic events. RHS is truly blessed to have Jesse as part of the school staff.
