Meet our April Crystal Apple Award winners
Congratulations to Angie Allen, a first-grade teacher at Melrose Elementary School; and Marcia Jaques, office manager at Melrose. These employees were presented with Crystal Apple Awards at the April 8 School Board meeting.
Here’s what their leaders had to say:
Angie is an exceptional educator who consistently brings energy, collaboration, and a deep belief in students to everything she does. A true team player, she works alongside colleagues with positivity and purpose, always willing to support others and contribute to the success of the entire team. Her enthusiasm for teaching is contagious, inspiring young learners to believe in themselves and take pride in their growth. She is especially skilled in teaching reading, helping students build strong foundational literacy skills while fostering a genuine love for books and learning. Beyond her classroom, she supports fellow educators through collaboration and shared growth. Angie is everything Melrose, and Melrose is lucky to have Angie.
Marcia has demonstrated continuous support for the Melrose staff and its mission over the past 13 years. Her unwavering willingness to serve others makes her a staple in the office and a trusted resource for students, staff and families. Students know Mrs. Jaques is always there to help, whether they need assistance, answers or simply a smile. Colleagues rely on her knowledge and support, and her approachable, selfless nature creates a welcoming environment for all. Marcia’s character is reflected in her daily service and deep commitment to the school community. She often shares her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, which speaks to the care she brings to others. She truly holds Melrose in her heart, and Melrose is thankful for her presence and leadership.
