Meet May's Exceptional Student Award winners

Congratulations to Micheal Hemmila Webb, fifth-grader at Winchester Elementary School; and Leeta Caswell, senior at Roseburg High School. These students were recognized with Exceptional Student Awards at our May School Board meeting.
Each month, students are chosen by their schools to be honored at our School Board meetings. Students may be recognized for a variety of achievements and successes such as academics, community-mindedness, character, positive influence, and extracurriculars.
Here’s what their schools had to say:
Micheal consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership by choosing to be a positive example for others. He is honest, kind, and hardworking, and treats everyone with respect. He focuses, follows directions, and is frequently recognized by substitutes for his helpfulness and effort. Micheal includes others, supports classmates, and approaches challenges with determination and a “win-win” mindset. He shows perseverance in learning and willingly helps others succeed. A true role model, Micheal makes Winchester a better place each day.
Leeta is an enthusiastic and dedicated learner who brings curiosity, focus, and positivity to every classroom experience. She is consistently punctual, prepared, and intentional in her work, approaching each task with purpose and flexibility. A strong mathematical thinker, Leeta excels at problem-solving while also demonstrating deep compassion and a commitment to helping others succeed. She is both a leader and a collaborative team player, unafraid to take academic risks and share her thinking. Leeta’s creativity, kindness, and initiative, such as finding ways to support peers, make her a valued presence who truly makes those around her better.
